Dancing Fingers Lesson Plans
Each student receives personal instruction based upon their age and experience. The piano curriculum is individually matched to the student’s learning style from several choices. They receive their individual or private lessons, followed by multi-media computer lab programs, Performance Classes and Studio Recitals. For the beginner students I can provide a special program - group/partner lessons.

embed1Private lessons are the main part of piano education. During these lessons students learn to read and write music, perform in various styles, and compose. Special attention is given to two essential piano elements - technical skills and performance.

Private lessons are offered in two formats:

30 minute private lesson - for the beginner to Level 1 student, followed by a Computer Lab Session (15-30 minutes)

45 minute private lesson - highly recommended for all students. A requirement for the students taking piano lessons more then two years, followed by a Computer Lab Session (15-30 minutes)

Computer Lab Sessions is a tailored laptop/keyboard session which follows the piano instruction. I have various computer programs as an aid in the study of music theory, composing music or improving sight-reading skills. Students also can work on a Yamaha Portable Grand Keyboard, playing their repertoire with accompaniments recorded on MIDI format files, experimenting the sound with different voices, and even recording their program to make a personal CD.

embed2As a part of a student computer lab lesson, every student has an access to the Music Learning Community website at home: www.MusicLearningCommunity.com. This website contains hundreds of enjoyable and very instructional games of varying skill levels, all carefully planned to gain mastery of the elements of music theory, ear training and rhythmic skills in an exciting, challenging environment.

Performance class is very important part of the curriculum usually held 3-4 times per year. The students perform their repertoire   which they have  studied during the previous last 4-6 weeks. They discuss their performances, play duets and after that, play music games. The class teaches the students performances skills and stimulates home preparation. Also the students love to bond with their peers and play alongside each other.

Studio Recitals

There are 1 to 2 annual piano recital usually held at Dunkley’s Recital Hall in downtown Boise. All parents and friends are cordially invited to attend.
