Lesson Categories
Private lesson is an individual lesson with a teacher for 30 or 45 minutes.
30 minutes - recommended for the Beginner or Level 1 students.
40 minutes - recommended for Early Intermediate and higher.
Computer Lab is tailored laptop lab session which follows after the piano instruction.
Studio has various computer programs as an aid in the study of music theory, composing music or improving sight-reading skills. The other opportunity during computer lab is to work on Yamaha Portable Grand Keyboard, playing their lesson music while recording on MIDI format files accompaniments, experimenting with different voices or even recording their own personal works and analyzing the result.
As a part of student computer lab lesson, every student has an access to the Music Learning Community website at home: www.MusicLearningCommunity.com This website contains hundreds of enjoyable and very instructional games of varying skill levels, all carefully planned to gain mastery of the elements of music theory, ear training and rhythmic skills in an exciting, challenging environment.
Block Lesson - combines 3 parts: 25 min private lesson, 20 min partner lesson and 25 min computer lab lesson. Two students with the same skill level come together and share their time with the teacher individually, together (partner lesson) and working in computer lab. During their partner lesson the students study duets and developing their sight reading skills, doing ear training /listening exercises, skills and drills activities and even playing some music games. It was special dedication of teacher to design this format for the student as the most beneficial and still affordable. This lesson is highly recommended for all levels.
Partner Lesson – a 45 minutes lesson for two students, usually the very beginners. Younger children (6 years and younger) come to the lesson with their parent.
Group Lesson - 45 or 60 minutes long, for 3 or 4 students, usually the very beginners. Important: if the group 3 students become of the group of 2 students, the group lesson automatically starts to be a partner lesson and price would be changed accordingly.
Young children 6 years and younger come to their lessons with a parent.
Performance Class is the most important part of the curriculum. The students will perform the program that they studied during their last 4-5 weeks, they will discuss their performance, plays duets and after that plays music games. The lesson teaches the students performance skills and stimulates their home preparation. It is interactive, they show to each other what they achieve and they play with each other. Students will have class into groups of 5-6 students.
This lesson is longer, 90 minutes length. There is no private or block lessons during this week except the beginner level.
Studio Recitals - held in Dunkley recital Hall. There is no private, block, partner or group lessons during a studio recital week. There are 2 annual recitals. The very beginners might not be performers yet, but they are strongly recommendedattend a Studio Recital.
December 9 th, Wednesday 7:00-8:30PM
May 5 th, Wednesday, 7:00-8:30PM
Make Up lessons - Schedule permitting, the teacher will try to offer make-ups for lessons that are missed with excused absence * (with 24 hour notice). If notice is received after noon, the lesson maybe forfeited. The teacher offers make-up lessons as a courtesy, not an obligation. When appropriate, a makeup group class will be given for students who have an excused absence and have given 24-hours’ notice. The makeup class is held once every two month and will focus on the current goals of the Studio (such as preparation for a recital, skill drills, sight-reading, and so forth).
In case of teacher illness, a group make-up lesson will be scheduled during the year or will be made up at the end of the spring term or during summer. Lessons missed by the teacher for any other reason will be made up at a mutually convenient time.
*An excused absence is student illness, student out of town, or family emergency.
